General site induction

Anyone who is required to undertake work on the QAL site must undertake an online QAL Site Induction. It is compulsory for this induction to be completed prior to any work being performed on the site as per Procedure P703.018 - Training & Induction. 

Access to site during COVID-19

Access to our site is currently restricted due to COVID-19. Contractors are advised to check in with the key contact for their site contract regarding requirments prior to entering site. 

Contractor Compliance with QAL Health and Fitness Standard

All contractor employees who require medical clearance for site access will be required to demonstrate that they satisfy the QAL Health and Fitness Standard by obtaining and presenting a compliance card from an approved Pre-Employment Medical (PEM) Provider.  Please note that these medicals will be valid at QAL, RTA Yarwun and now at BSL.

If you are booking a medical outside of Gladstone, please do so by contacting the Gladstone office of the particular provider.  Failure to do so may result in an incorrect medical being used which may make it invalid.


Other requirements

Regardless of which medical system is used to access site, ALL contractors must provide, as part of the medical or separately, a urine drug screen that was completed within the last three months and which is fully compliant with the up-to-date version of AS/NZS 4308.


Prior to registering, you will need:

  • Your Contractor Company’s contract number or Purchase order (supplied by the employer)

  • A contact phone number

  • A contact email address

Visit and complete the Login. There is a choice of two selections for Login:

  • Create Contractor account (for those with no QAL Badge Number, Username or Password)

  • Reset Password (for those who have previously completed QAL’s online induction and don’t know the username and password).

Once Registration is complete, it will generate an email requesting authorisation by the QAL Contract Supervisor and the Induction Co-ordinator

Once the induction request has been approved, you will receive an email with your username and password.  You will be asked to change this password on first login.  Please record your username and new password for future use.

If your registration is declined you will be contacted by your QAL contractor supervisor.

Please complete your online induction modules as soon as possible after registration to avoid expiry.

When the Online Induction has been successfully completed, the Contractor admin personnel are required to supply a passport quality photo of the employee and a photo (not a scan or photocopy) of both sides of the employee’s Medipass to QAL Plant Protection. Please email this to

 If the Medipass has restrictions or conditions listed under the relevant section, Contractor admin personnel must send the Medipass photos to the QAL Occupational Health Centre via email. The OHC staff will review the restrictions and email a restriction form in return.

Upon receipt of the restriction form, Contractor admin are responsible for acquiring all signatures required for sign off, and then returning the form (via email) to Plant Protection and QAL Occupational Health.

These requirements must be met, no later than 4.00pm of the Monday prior to the Tuesday site induction. Contractor access cards will be prepared ONLY when all prerequisites are met. Contractor Access cards will be issued after successful completion of Site safety induction.

The Online QAL Site Induction is valid for two (2) years.

Maritime Induction

Anyone who requires access to the QAL Wharf or BSL needs to only undertake an online QAL Maritime Induction.

Prior to registering, you will need an MSIC card.
