As the first and largest
corporate citizen in Gladstone, QAL forms an integral part of the
region’s social
and economic fabric. For over 44 years, QAL has demonstrated a
commitment to developing
community infrastructure and supporting development.
Continuation
of mutually beneficial relationships with the community is essential
to corporate standing and long-term sustainability – the operation
cannot grow or prosper without the support of its community.
Support of the community is founded on factors including solid two-way
communication, participation and assistance to organisations, events
and causes with particular focus on local initiatives relating to
environment, education and community development.

Reef Guardian Fund
The QAL Reef
Guardian Fund complements the existing Great Barrier Reef Marine
Park Authority’s Reef Guardian Schools program, which encourages
schools to commit to the protection and conservation of the world
heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.
Reef Guardian Schools help to protect the
Reef by promoting their ideas, initiatives and activities to
communities to encourage all people to “do their bit to look after
it”. QAL assists Reef Guardian Schools to turn these initiatives
into reality through the $10 000 per annum Reef Guardian Fund. Reef
Guardian Schools can apply for a portion of this funding to assist
with their environmental projects. Read the
brochure
for more information and return your school’s
application form before 11 April.
